SHOCKING pictures show the extent of recent flooding in Reading following heavy rainfall.

Flood warnings and alerts remain in place for the town today, as photos show burst banks at The Oracle Riverside, Woodley and other areas.

A warning is currently in place for the River Thames at Purley village - meaning flooding is expected and "immediate action" is required.

River levels are rising slowly as a result of heavy rainfall, and flooding of property is expected to continue today (February 1) in the Purley area.

The forecast is largely dry today, with a chance of some overnight rain tonight.

River levels are high but steady on the River Kennet as a result of heavy rainfall over the past few days.

Flooding of low lying roads, paths and land is expected to continue, especially in the Theale area.

The forecast is largely dry, with further rain forecast next week.
