"I have repeated nightmares of him being murdered the way that he was murdered," Me Ritchie said, speaking on what would have been Joseph's 40th birthday (January 22).

"I probably can't say the things that we learned, but Joe died extremely violently and hearing the way that he, James and David died, which were equally violently and awful - it's unbearable, it's unacceptable.

"No one wants their family member to die anyway, and we all have this hope that it's going to be in your 80s or 90s, maybe even 100 if you're so lucky, very peacefully in bed.

"We all want that for everyone.

"Joe, James and David didn't deserve to go out like that."

Describing his late brother, Mr Ritchie said that Joe was "full of life," and the only person he knew who had been looking forward to turning 40.

"He had his whole life ahead of him," Robert added.

"He was young, he was vibrant, he was healthy, he was in great shape."
