MOST children have understandably entertained themselves throughout the three UK lockdowns with TV, Fortnite and games.

But one Caversham schoolgirl took the opportunity to speak with some very interesting people, from midwives to famous comedians and presidents.

Chatty Gwen Rose, 7, launched a weekly podcast with the help of her mum and stepdad at the beginning of the first lockdown in March 2020, called Gwen Gets to Work.

The youngster uses the platform to ask adults in different jobs what their working world is really like, and gears questions towards children of primary school age, as well as their parents.

She has interviewed "grown ups" in the creative industries such as art, music and theatre and has even done a Christmas Special with comedian Joe Lycett.

Gwen has also spoken to authority figures such as barristers, GPs and the president of Trinidad and Tobago Paula-Mae Weekes.

On top of this, she has given a voice to essential staff by chatting to food delivery workers, midwives, teachers and reporters - she has even found out what it is like to run a chocolate factory and a literary festival.

Her parents said it has been a lovely way for Gwen to stay connected during these strange times the pandemic has created.

And the youngster has no intentions of stopping soon.

Having reached a 30-episode milestone, she said: "I am very proud of myself and it takes time to do but I get really excited when I start the call and then - well I just feel really happy when I see the comments people write for me in the reviews."
