MP Matt Rodda has taken on a new role as Shadow Pensions Minister.
The Reading East MP has been promoted from his role as Shadow Transport Minister for Buses to a place in the Department for Work and Pension shadow team.
He was re-elected in December 2019 as Reading East MP, defeating Conservative challenger Craig Morley.
Speaking to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS), Mr Rodda said: “I am very pleased to have accepted this promotion.
“It is a bigger role than buses and local transport. I am honoured and delighted to be doing it.
“I am grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to working with pensioners in Reading East community and across the cuontry and with pension companies as well.”
“The pensions industry is really important. I have always been a supporter of the welfare estate and I think private pensions are very important as well.”
The Reading East MP worked in the buses role for three years and said it had been a “privilege” to promote bus companies including the town’s own award-winning Reading Buses.
Sam Tarry will take on his role in the local transport team and Mr Rodda said he would be a “great support of municipal bus companies”.
