WE have rounded up some of Reading's most shocking, eye-opening and important stories from the past week.
Here are a few of the most significant stories readers should be aware of:
1. Reading and the rest of Berkshire placed in Tier 3
On Thursday, December 17, Reading was placed in Tier 3.
After cases soared in the last few weeks, with the whole of Berkshire will be going into the highest tier of coronavirus restrictions.
The new Covid measures will come in from Saturday, December 19, at 00:01.
2. Jail terms of PC Harper killers will NOT be changed
The sentences given to three teenagers for the manslaughter of PC Andrew Harper will not be changed after the Court of Appeal dismissed challenges by the Attorney General and the trio.
The Court of Appeal ruled on Wednesday (December 16) whether PC Andrew Harper's killers' sentences for manslaughter are "unduly lenient" following a bid by the Attorney General to have them increased.
Announcing the Court of Appeal's decision, Dame Victoria Sharp said the court had dismissed the Attorney General's appeal against Long, Cole and Bowers' sentences for manslaughter, as well as the trio's own appeals against their custodial terms.
