TRAFFIC is building and huge queues have been spotted in Tilehurst as people wait to have their Covid-19 vaccines.

Cars can be seen queuing along Westwood Road as people are waiting to have their jabs at Tilehurst Village Surgery.

The surgery's website explained it was hosting a clinic for Covid-19 vaccinations for the patients of Tilehurst Village Surgery, Chancellor House Surgery, Grovelands Medical Centre and Westwood Road Health Centre.

Pictures sent into the Reading Chronicle show a large number of people queuing along the road, most of them elderly patients, appearing to be waiting to have their vaccinations against the virus.

Tilehurst Village Surgery said the vaccine has to be given to patients within a few days of delivery to the surgery and it is "unlikely to get more than one week notice as to delivery dates".

It's website added: "We will thus be alerting and inviting patients to Covid-19 Vaccination Drop-in clinics via TEXT message as this is the quickest and most time efficient way.

"We will also update any Covid-19 Vaccination clinics on the TVS Facebook page and website."
