The supermarket has been steadily gaining hours of availability since 1978, and has made several applications to allow delivery drivers 24 hours a day, everyday access to the site, however it has been refused a number of times in the past.

The application has recommended refusal for the application, however it has not yet been definitively decided.

Cllr Pauline Jorgensen said: "ASDA have put in an application to increase their HGV deliveries to 24 hours a day.

"This is not the first time this has been attempted - the last application was eventually withdrawn in the face of objections on the grounds of noise nuisance of large lorries loading and unloading in the middle of the night in what is a residential area, it causes a particular nuisance in Chatton Close and Carland Close.

"Last time this was mooted we also got a change to WBC planning policy to presume against 24 hour delivery in built up areas, I have had some concerned emails from local residents already."
