A MAN has been attacked and robbed of the cash he had just withdrawn from an ATM in Reading.

Thames Valley Police said the victim has been left with serious injuries after the assault about 2.07am today (December 11).

The victim, a man in his late twenties, withdrew cash from the ATM at Morrison's in Reading.

He then walked towards Basingstoke Road where he was approached from behind and assaulted before the attacker made off with the cash.

The victim was rushed to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Police said the offender is described as a white man, around 20 to 30 years old, wearing a white hoody with the hood up, and he has facial hair. He was wearing a grey tracksuit bottoms and black shoes.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Emma Pointon, said: “We are carrying out a thorough investigation into this incident in which a man has been seriously injured.

“We are appealing for anyone with information to please come forward, or anyone who might recognise the offender from the description to please get in touch.”
