THAMES Valley Police has asked the public for help solving six crimes in Reading in the last fortnight.

From robberies to sexual assaults - here is a round-up of the investigations and details of how to get in touch with the force if you have vital information.

1. Ladbrokes in Lambourn robbery

Reading Chronicle:

Two men who threatened a cashier before stealing money from the till and safe are being sought by police.

The incident took place on Thursday (December 3) at about 10.15am at Ladbrokes in the Broadway, Lambourn.

The victim, a 26-year-old woman who was working in the betting shop, was approached by the men, who threatened her and demanded money from the till and safe.

They stole cash before leaving the scene on bicycles.

One offender is a white man, about 5ft 3ins tall, aged in his late 20s.

He is described as having a skinny build and an Irish accent. He was wearing dark clothing with a hood and a high-vis jacket over the top and a black balaclava.

The second offender is a white man, about 6ft tall, aged in his 30s.

He is described as having a skinny build and was also wearing dark clothing with a high-vis jacket over the top. He was wearing a face covering.

2. Armed offenders ransack home in Woodley

Reading Chronicle:

A burglary occurred in Woodley at a property in Clivedale Road on Monday, November 16, between 6pm and 6.35pm.

The victims, a man aged 70 and a woman aged 69, were at home when two men rang the doorbell.

The pair forced entry to the address and demanded money.

Whilst the offenders ransacked the property the female victim managed to flee the house to nearby shops where she contacted the police.

The offenders stole an amount of cash before fleeing, and police said nobody was injured during the ordeal.

3. Would-be robber threatens man with knife

Reading Chronicle:

Police are appealing for witnesses following the attempted robbery, which took place between 5.20pm and 5.30pm on Wednesday (November 25).

The victim, a man in his thirties, was travelling along Henley Road when another man stopped him.

He asked the victim how much his scooter was worth, before producing a knife, described as a Stanley knife, and told the victim to follow him.

However, the victim managed to get away and rode off on his scooter in the direction of Micklands Road, where he reported the incident to police.

No property was stolen and the victim sustained no injuries.

4. Woman arrested on suspicion of sexual assault

Reading Chronicle:

A woman has been arrested after a female victim was sat on and had her arms pinned to the floor.

It comes after a woman was walking in Kingsley Close, Reading and was knocked to the ground.

She was allegedly sat on and had her arms pinned down by another woman.

The offender made comments about gender identity to the victim, so police are treating this incident as a hate crime.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.

As a result, Thames Valley Police arrested a 41-year-old woman of no fixed abode on Friday, November 20, on suspicion of sexual assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage.

The investigation remains ongoing.

5. Police issue warning to residents following theft in Reading

Reading Chronicle:

Thames Valley Police (TVP) said an unknown offender entered a property in Liverpool Road through an unlocked front door and stole a TV, Playstation, clothing, perfume and money.

It happened between 9.30pm on Saturday (November 21), and 2am the next day.

There have been no arrests.

Police have urged the public to report any suspicious incidents, sightings or information to the TVP Enquiry Centre on 101.

6. Scam theft of Rolex watch

Reading Chronicle:

An arrest has been made in connection with the armed theft of a Rolex watch from a man in Caversham.

On November 21, a man in his thirties was waiting in Henley Road, Caversham, to meet a man who he had agreed to sell the Rolex to - a Datejust 41, which retails online for thousands of pounds.

He was approached by a man who took the watch and ran away without paying.

The victim chased the thief, who had dropped his phone, and he then threatened the victim with a large knife before picking up his phone and running away.

An 18-year-old man from Reading was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
