HINDU Residents in Reading have pulled together to support their local temple after it made a plea online for donations earlier this month.

Reading Hindu Temple, based on Whitley Street, Reading, made an urgent plea for donations earlier this month, after sharing concerns that without the funding the building would not be able to continue running.

Since the plea was made last week, More than £4,500 have been raised to help support the temple maintenance and staff pay.

A spokesman for the Reading Hindu Temple said on Facebook: "Many of you have asked about the campaign launched on Tuesday, November 17.

"We are pleased to announce that within five days of our request we have managed to raise £4900!

"The Executive Committee would like to express its deepest gratitude to all those who have helped and donated to the temple.

"Please continue to support the temple throughout these difficult times so we can keep Reading Hindu Temple running."
