A blood stained knife found when police followed up reports of a noisy argument is causing concern.

At about 3.30am this morning Thames Valley officers followed up reports of a disturbance involving three men in Denmark Street, Reading.

When they got there it seemed to be over but a knife found near the scene with a small amount of blood on it has led to an investigation being started.

Investigating officer, Inspector Fiona Pearce, based at Reading police station, said: “We are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to please come forward as it is believed that someone may have been injured.

“If anyone has any information about what happened I would urge them to get in touch with us.

“A man on a bicycle approached officers to report the incident when they arrived at the scene but he then left the area. We would like to speak to him further about what happened and we would ask that he also makes contact.
