A SEXUAL assault in Reading's town centre has led to police seeking witnesses of the attack.

The attack took place just after midnight opposite St Mary's Butts, by the side entrance of the Reading Minster of St Mary Virgin Church, where a woman in her 30s was approached and spoken to by the attacker, who then sexually assaulted her.

The attacker was described as a white man in his forties, with short dark brown hair and a spiky beard.

HE was around 5ft tall, of skinny build, and wore blue jeans, a black jacket and a brown bobble hat.

The victim did not sustain any injuries during the attack.

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Jon Morley, of Reading police station: “This was a distressing incident during which a woman in her thirties was sexually assaulted.

“I would like to appeal for any witnesses in relation to this incident to please help with our investigation.
