A READING community which usually raises money for the Poppy Appeal throughout November is taking efforts a step further for 2020.
The Turn Tilehurst Red campaign has this year seen hundreds of homes, schools, shops and businesses decorated to mark Remembrance Sunday, but additionally the village wants to honour those who have lost their lives in the front line of the pandemic.

As part of this, organisers want to raise enough money to purchase a special commemorative bench for NHS key workers, which will be placed in the triangle at Tilehurst for all members of the public to use.
A JustGiving page has been set up for donations.
So far, £681 of the £1,500 target has been raised.

The page explains: "This year's Turn Tilehurst Red event is a campaign to THANK those that lost their lives serving our country.
"Not only the armed forces but also our NHS and key workers."
Any additional funds raised will be donated to the Tilehurst British Legion Poppy Appeal.
