Reading FC boss Veljko Paunovic played down the chances of Reading bringing in any free agents in the near future, stating that he is happy with the state of his squad.

Reading made five additions over the transfer window, bringing in Ovie Ejaria and Josh Laurent on permanent deals and sealing loan moves for Lewis Gibson, Tomas Esteves and Alfa Semedo.

The Royals could further strengthen their squad with free agents, although Paunovic confirmed that currently no imminent plans to bring in a free agent.

The Serbian boss said that any new additions would have to be a perfect fit for his squad, who’ve started the season brilliantly in the Championship with five wins from the first six games.

Speaking after the home triumph against Wycombe Wanderers, Paunovid said when asked whether any new additions were forthcoming: “At the moment, no. There is nothing.

“In terms of bringing in a free agent and any addition must not just have the quality, but also the right character to fit in to the tight-knit squad.

“A lot of guys want to come and that’s obvious now.

"But, at this point, we are happy with the team we have.

“We are careful if there is anyone we like we are careful what kind of person and competitor is going to come into the locker room.”

At the end of the domestic window last week, Reading had been linked with numerous high profile free agents, including former Arsenal and West Ham United midfielder Jack Wilshere, former Sunderland winger Duncan Watmore and former Liverpool and AC Milan winger Fabio Borini.
