More than 400 new positive coronavirus tests have been recorded across East Lancashire since Monday.

Data released on Tuesday afternoon shows that in the last 24 hours, across all six boroughs, 435 people have tested positive for Covid-19 – with Blackburn with Darwen registering the highest number of new cases for the third day running. 

Across Blackburn with Darwen 155 people have tested positive for the virus since Monday, bringing the total number of positive cases there since the pandemic began to 4,604.

In Burnley and in Hyndburn, 74 more people tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 2,646 and 1,741 respectively.

The fourth highest number of new cases was reported in Pendle, where 52 new positive tests were registered since yesterday, with their total now sitting at 2,531.

Rossendale’s total number of positive infections grew to 1,505 after 43 new cases were recorded, while the Ribble Valley’s 37 new infections since Monday brought the borough’s total to 943.

The total number of positive tests for Covid-19 recorded across East Lancashire since the pandemic started now stands at 14,044.

In the last 24 hours, one more person has died with Covid-19 at a hospital in Lancashire. 

The death was recorded in East Lancashire on October 19, and means since October 14, seven people have died with the virus and had Covid-19 registered on their death certificate at facilities within East Lancashire.

No new coronavirus related deaths were recorded at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals Trust, or the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.

The total number of deaths across the county, in all hospitals, according to figures from NHS England, now stands at 1,165.
