A LOCAL comedian is setting up monthly comedy nights in Reading, in a bid to "not let the arts die out without a fight."

Preet Singh, a comedian based in the Reading area, has been working on involving various comedians, from some local up-and-comers to TV-famous comedians.

Mr Singh said: "I am setting up a new, socially-distanced, monthly pro-comedy night in Reading in Revolucion De Cuba, debuting on October 29.

"We have confirmed TV level Headliners, exciting new talent, and well respected circuit pros booked (Nathan Caton and Sara Barron of Live at the Apollo, 8 out of 10 cats, BBC, Comedy Central fame).

"I’ve even sent a tentative email to Ricky Gervais.

"The idea to get this going was born out of wanting to bring some joy in these pretty dark times, helping comedians earn a living, and in all honesty to not let the arts die out without a fight."
