The force said teams are patrolling within the vicinity of Battle Square and the surrounding roads.

They are also concentrating patrols in Western Elms Avenue and the vicinity of Western Elms Surgery in response to reports of individuals engaging in prostitution and associated drug use.

The team is visiting Norfolk Road, Epping Close, Portman Road, Richmond Road, Chester Street and Thornton Mews which have been variously identified as ASB and drug dealing/drug taking hot spots.

In a police newsletter for South Reading, police said there are several properties in the area which have been reported to have ongoing incidents of drug dealing and ASB.

TVP said: "We monitor these properties and their inhabitants and engage with housing associations and residents to resolve the issues arising, putting in closure orders where appropriate.

"Any offences committed are dealt with promptly."
