ANYONE planning to use the tip through winter should bear in mind new opening hours for recycling centres in Berkshire.

Re3, the group which runs Smallmead Household Waste Recycling Centre in Reading and Longshot Lane Recycling Centre in Bracknell, announced new opening hours for the coming months would come into effect from October 1.

Both sites will now be open from 8am to 6pm daily.

This means the last time for entrance is 5.30pm.

A tweet posted from Re3 read: "This change won't impact the overall capacity, as we've released additional slots at earlier hours."

Residents wanting to use the tips must still book a slot online.

Due to high demand, people are only allowed to make one booking per week.

Residents who have been keeping a close eye on Bracknell News will know of the frustrations of trying to book a slot for the tip.

Even though most readers praised the booking system, recycling centre on Longshot Lane, it has proven to be difficult for some to get a time slot.

During lockdown, the tip proved to be a necessity to preventing “reprehensible” fly-tipping across the borough.

Re3 has implemented a number of social distancing measures at the site to keep residents safe.

People with rubbish are warned not to make a booking if they are showing coronavirus symptoms or if you are self-isolating.
