A FIRE has broken out at a recycling centre in Reading.

A tweet posted by re3 recycling said: "We’re currently dealing with a fire incident at the Reading site."

It added: "If you have any bookings for today, you may experience some delays.

"We will update you as soon as we have some more information."

The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said at 9.14am they received reports of a small fire at a recycling centre in Reading.

A spokesperson said: "Three Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Caversham Road, Whitley Wood and Wokingham Road were sent to the scene, alongside an Officer.

"Upon arrival, crews found a small fire inside the waste disposal machine. 

"Two firefighters in breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire.

"This incident is currently ongoing."

At 10.30am re3 recycling tweeted to say the site has now reopened and residents can use the site without any issues.

It thanked people for their patience.
