A MEDICAL technology company based in Winnersh has been praised for converting its office into a commissioning base for urgently needed hospital supplies.
Becton, Dickinson and Company, or BD, an international company providing various medical technologies, converted an entire floor its head office in Winnersh Triangle, Winnersh into a station where infusion pumps, which were needed for the then-newly constructed NHS Nightingale hospitals, were sources, shipped and commissioned.

In order to help with the effort, members of staff, their friends and their families, all came together in the effort, successfully commissioning the pumps in less than 10 weeks.
For their efforts, the company and its members of staff were announced as winners of the Thames Valley Local Hero Awards, celebrating the work of local businesses and individuals for their efforts in supporting the country during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Mike Fairbourn, BD’s general manager UK & Ireland, said: “The project was no mean feat, when we understood the scale of the task and logistics, we knew we would need the help from our own local heroes to pull it off.
"We’re delighted with the accolade and it’s a great recognition to all of our BD Family and Friends who helped.
"To us they, along with all our keyworkers, are the true heroes."
