RESIDENTS will again get a chance to have their say on major building plans for Bracknell Forest in the new year.

Delays caused by the pandemic to the development of the council’s local plan — which sets out where homes will be built, development within the countryside, infrastructure issues and more — meant work on the proposals was pushed back.

Locals had the opportunity to comment on a draft version of the plan, which included proposals to add 4,000 homes at Jealott’s Hill, back in October 2019.

Now it appears sufficient progress has been made on the vision to enable residents to have another say on the plans near the start of 2021.

Councillor Chris Turrell, Bracknell Forest Council’s planning chief, said: “We are making good progress on the Local Plan and thank all those who have contributed through the consultation process so far.

“We are anticipating publishing a ‘submission version plan’ early in the new year for a final round of consultation.

“Following this consultation the plan will be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate.

“The appointed planning inspector will examine it and determine whether the plan and its contents are sound.”

An updated timetable published on the council’s website indicates the submission of the revised local plan could come in February 2021, with examination to follow before the authority formally adopts the work in either 2021 or 2022.

Back in August, Bracknell Forest Council’s head of planning Max Baker told the News that the authority’s top team would discuss the progress of local plan in November.
