Data shows domestic abuse crimes have increased by 45 per cent in Bracknell and Wokingham.

Worryingly, there were 2,757 recorded domestic abuse crimes reported in the past year.

In 2017, this figure was significantly less with 1,497 crimes reported.

Police have said that the number of crimes with a domestic abuse qualifier that have been finalised as domestic abuse under the national definition has fallen from around 94 per cent to around 80 per cent.

At the same time the number of domestic abuse non crime occurrences has fallen from around 70 per cent to around 40 per cent.

This is due to the fact that key information to identify whether an occurrence is compliant with the national definition has not been recorded.

Additional records which meet the criteria but which do not have the domestic qualifier are also included.
