THE trial of a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her bed has entered its closing stages.

Christopher Perry denies one count of sexual assault and another of assault by penetration, both offences alleged to have taken place at an address in Chinnor, South Oxfordshire.

The 28-year-old of Post Office Lane, Beaconsfield's trial at Oxford Crown Court got under way earlier this week.

Yesterday, jurors at the same court heard closing speeches from both the prosecution in the case and Perry's defence barrister.

Jurors are expected to return to court today where the case will be summed up before they are sent out to begin their deliberations.

Prosecutors claim that the alleged sex attack took place in June 2017 at a house in Chinnor, South Oxfordshire.

Earlier in the trial jurors saw a recorded police interview the alleged victim gave about the incident.

The woman claimed that, without consenting, her attacker sexually assaulted her in a bedroom, after a house party at her home.

Perry, meanwhile, told police that the pair had been kissing and the activity was consensual.

The jury heard on Wednesday that the accused had told officers 'never in a million years would I take from someone without consent, it's not in my nature.'

He went on to tell police, the court heard, that his alleged victim had 'wanted it.'

Perry denies both counts and the trial continues.
