Christmas in Reading: What will happen?

Love it or hate it, the festive season is not far away, but 2020 has proved to be a strange and difficult year, so what does this mean for Christmas?

Usually a time for parties and family get togethers, Covid and Christmas don't exactly go hand in hand.

Things are changing all the time in terms of restrictions imposed to prevent the spread of Covid-19, but with the Rule of Six only being introduced this week, it is impossible to know whether things will get better or worse before December.

Inevitably, celebrations will probably be slightly different this year, and already several big Christmas events, such as London's Winter Wonderland, have been cancelled.

Closer to home, Reading's Christmas panto will also not be happening this year.

On top of this, the traditional office Christmas party is unlikely to go ahead for most companies, and some even worry they may not be able to see family on the big day.

But as a Christmas-loving town, it may still be possible to keep that festive spirit alive, even if in a different way than usual.

Many say that 2020 has put things into perspective, so perhaps Christmas this year will be more special for people?
