1. Along the Kennet and Avon Canal

Reading Chronicle:

The Kennet and Avon Canal, at 87 miles long, links London with the Bristol Channel, and passes through some spectacular landscapes.

The parts that run through Reading make for some pretty running views to jazz up your jog, and you can always follow it on for longer if you're aiming for those longer distances.

As one person on TripAdvisor said, there are plenty of options: "The canal runs through the heart of Reading Town centre.

"In one direction running towards the Madejski Stadium and other other running towards Sonning Common.

"If you're heading towards Madejski, you'll have views of the back of houses with their gardens before reaching grassland. On the walk you will come across swans, ducks and even dear. This walk is mainly on gravel.

"If heading towards Sonning Common, you will pass a couple of lovely pubs before hitting fields where you need to follow the edge of the river to continue your walk towards Sonning. This walk is on paved, gravel and grass.

"Both walks are perfect to kill a couple of hours and ideal for runners aiming for a good view."

2. Reading Half Marathon

Reading Chronicle:

If you're aiming for that Half Marathon distance, Reading is perfect - especially because the official event for this year has been cancelled due to Covid-19.

With the 13 mile race usually held annually, you can always practice along this route, which runs from the centre of town through to the beautiful grounds of the University of Reading campus.

The race culminates in a finish at the incredible Madejski Stadium.

The start line is situated in the stunning parkland of Green Park, where the race begins with a loop before crossing the A33 relief road.

The route then takes in the grounds of Reading University before runners head into the town centre.

3. 5k Caversham Heights

Reading Chronicle:

PlotaRoute suggests a simple 5k around Caversham Heights, perfect if you're after a smaller route.

You'll also get plenty of varied scenery to enjoy.

4. Caversham Court Gardens
