FROM HISTORICAL blockbusters to classic action films, Reading has played host to many Hollywood hits over the years.
Elizabethan country house Englefield Estate in Theale has a starring role in films like The King's Speech and the 2012 adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic novel Great Expectations.

These are some of the most popular films shot in Reading:
1. The King's Speech (2010)
Englefield House was used for hit movie The King's Speech, starring Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter.
Originally a Tudor mansion, Englefield House, Englefield Village, just west of Reading, is a private home and not open to visitors, but you can visit the gardens.
2. Bugsy Malone (1976)
Lots of the popular 70s gangster musical comedy Bugsy Malone was filmed in the town.
The bar scenes were filmed in the now-demolished biscuit factory Huntley and Palmers, which was situated on King's Road.
This was used as the interior of 'Fat Sam's', where much of the film's action centres around.
3. Match Point (2005)
Match Point is a 2005 psychological thriller film written and directed by Woody Allen and starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Scarlett Johansson, Emily Mortimer, Matthew Goode, Brian Cox, and Penelope Wilton.
Much of the popular film were also filmed at Englefield Estate.
4. X Men: First Class (2011)
Again, a lot of the film used Englefield Estate as the location.
5. Great Expectations (2012)
Another Helena Bonham Carter classic, lots of this film also used Englefield Estate.
