A NEW pavilion has been installed at Spencers Wood Recreation Ground in Shinfield.

For many generations the grounds have had a pavilion for use by residents.

Following the recognition that the current building had passed its life expectancy of 20 years, Shinfield Parish Council created a group in August 2019 to review its possible replacement.

The group was chaired by Cllr I Clarke and consisted of councillors and residents who investigated the current use and future possible usage of a larger building but still keeping the perspective of a recreation ground pavilion.

On August 27 the new modular pavilion was installed and will be fitted out over September ready for its grand re-opening in the first week of October 2020.

The new pavilion has a 60 year life expectancy with regular maintenance.

The interior design is one of multi-use with two small meeting rooms and one large community area which can be extended into one of the offices through a concertina wall.

There are kitchen facilities and audio-visual facilities so the scope for hirers is extended to suit most needs.

Shinfield Parish Council is delighted by the progress and swift build of this facility to provide residents with a much improved offering to residents, clubs, associations and party hirers.

The Parish Council wish the Pre-school, Shinfield Volunteer Car Service and other hirers, both returning and new, a warm welcome to the pavilion and long may it continue as a centre for community activity and spirit.
