Reading could get a new yoga studio, with plans recently submitted to Reading Borough Council (RBC).

A vacant window showroom at The Micro Centre on Gillette Way in south Reading could become a new location for Hotpod Yoga, which has more 50 franchises across the world.

Described as ‘Europe's biggest yoga brand’ by The Telegraph, Hotpod Yoga has sites in South Africa, Romania, Germany, Austria, Spain and Portugal, but the majority of its franchises are in the UK.

A new entrance would be created from Gillette Way as well as a new footpath from the highway, while a cycle store would also be provided.

The yoga studio would open from 7am-10pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am-6pm, on Saturdays and Sundays.

Hotpod Yoga plans to hold around 18 classes per week initially, increasing this to a maximum of 30-35 classes a week, if the studio is successful.

The company hopes to have a maximum capacity of 20 customers and one instructor, although this will need to meet coronavirus social distancing measures at the time of opening.

London sites in Brixton and Hackney are currently closed due to the pandemic but will open soon with ‘minipods’ with a capacity of 12 participants.
