A WOMAN was pushed to the ground and knocked unconscious outside St Mary's Butts Centre in Reading town centre yesterday.

The incident took place outside of Metro Bank, St Mary's Butts, at around 2.25am yesterday morning, Saturday, August 15.

Police said that the victim was approached by a man who started talking to her. This led to an altercation which led to the man pushing the victim to the floor, when she lost consciousness.

An unknown man then punched the attacker, who also fell to the ground. 

The victim suffered a broken nose, cheekbone and eye socket. She was rushed to hospital but has since been discharged.

Investigating officer, PC Sasha Dowson, based at Reading police station, said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, or has any information, to please come forward.

“Further I would ask any motorists who have dash-cams and were in the local area around the time of this incident to review any footage in case it has captured anything significant.

A man from Reading, aged 18, was arrested on suspicion of wounding/inflicting grevious bodily harm without intent, and has since been relased on police bail.
