ONE man was stabbed and another sustained head injuries after being hit by a bottle in Reading last night (August 9).

Between 9.30pm and midnight, a fight between two groups took place in Strathy Close, which left two men in hospital.

One victim, a man in his twenties, sustained a stab wound to his chest.

The second victim, a 19-year-old man, was hit over the head with a bottle and left with head injuries.

Both victims were taken to hospital where they remain receiving treatment.

Investigating officer, detective inspector Richard Jarvis, based at Reading police station, said: "I am appealing for witnesses to this incident to please come forward.

"There was a party taking place that has moved into the street, therefore there is a good chance that people saw what happened.

"Further, a white car was seen leaving the scene prior to police attendance and I would appeal for the driver of this car to please come forward as they may have information that could help with this investigation.

"I would also urge any motorists in the local area to check dash-cam footage in case it may have captured anything significant to the investigation.

"There is currently a scene watch in place and I would like to reassure the local community that we are conducting a thorough investigation to establish the circumstances of this incident.
