A MAN is unconscious in hospital after a brutal city centre attack.

The 39-year-old was punched to the ground in Queen’s Road, Brighton, at 5.40pm yesterday.

His attacker, who is said to be mixed race and in his 20s, then ran from the scene towards the Clock Tower.

He was bare-chested as he fled.

The man has been described to police as muscular and about 5ft 10in tall.

At the time of the attack, he was wearing a white T-shirt with flowery markings and black shorts.

Witnesses say he was not alone, and was accompanied by another man who is white and has light brown hair.

The second man was wearing a bright orange top and light-coloured shorts.

Following the attack, the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

As of Sunday afternoon, he remained unconscious as a result his injuries.

Sussex Police have now released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the assault as officers attempt to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The force is urging anyone with information on the attack to contact them.

A spokesman said: “Anyone who witnessed the attack, recognises the man in the photos or who has information about it (the assault) or either of the suspects is asked to report online or call 101 quoting serial 1315 of 08/08.”
