1. BRITISH AIRWAYS: Reading West protest calls for government action

Employees say BA is intending to fire its workforce and rehire those that survive on inferior contracts, and more than 200 MPs have signed a pledge calling for government action.

2. West Berkshire: Police warning after courier fraud incidents

SUSPICIOUS calls and visits from men asking for bank cards in Pangbourne has led police in West Berkshire to issue a warning.

3. Traveller site in Finchampstead could be expanded

Reading Chronicle:

A traveller site in Finchampstead could be expanded in plans described as “inappropriate” by the local parish council.

The site – at land next to 166 Nine Mile Ride – currently has four caravan pitches and an additional four would be added if the plans are approved by Wokingham Borough Council (WBC).

5. Reading: First Covid-19 death in almost two weeks recorded at Royal Berkshire Trust

THE first coronavirus death in almost two weeks has been recorded at the Royal Berkshire Trust, latest figures show.

NHS England statistics show that 188 people had died in hospital at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust as of 5pm yesterday (August 4).
