AN ADVANCE notice has been issued to residents on the Woodley/Earley border recently, after it was announced maintenance works on the viaducts would cause road closures.

The notice was issued to residents on July 21, warning residents of the road closures to expect this month.

This includes the closure of Loddon bridge Road from The George to Coppice Road, from August 15, 8pm to August 16, 6am, and also the closure of the A3290 from Winnersh Triangle and Reading, Reading-bound between 8pm on August 29 and 6am on August 30.

Dave Halley, Specialist L2 - Asset Management, Wokingham Borough Council, said in the notice: "Loddon Viaduct is the largest structure in our borough.

"The bridge provide vital road links for multiple routes between Reading, the A322 and M4.

"In order to ensure that the structure is kept in a good working condition the bridge has to be maintained and inspected on a regular basis."

He added: "As some of this work is above Loddon bridge Road you may hear work taking place but we will do our best to keep disruption to a minimum."
