LOCAL business owner Jonathan Frost, of opticians ‘View Been Framed’, sat down with The News to discuss how his business has coped during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Upon Government instruction, all opticians, like many businesses were forced to close in mid-March to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

However, the small independent opticians, based on Crowthorne High Street, recently reopened to provide their specialised eye test and spectacle fitting service.

The family run business, which has been on the High Street for almost three years, was hoping to have another successful 12 months.

Mr Frost said: “We were hoping for our third year to be even more successful, allowing us to provide a top quality, affordable, specialised service to the local area but the pandemic hit.”

He also touched on the serious financial impact the virus has had on his business: “Myself and my wife run this business and like many new businesses we don’t take a salary, closure meant no income for us.”

But three months after of closing their doors to prevent the spread, the shop is back in business but with social distancing measures implemented.

He added: “You book your appointment over the phone or via our Facebook pag, a customer is allocated a 45 minute slot, ample time for an eye test and a browse at our selection of eyewear.

“We provide masks and hand sanitiser but a face covering is only needed when sitting in the optometrists chair.”

After having eye test centres closed for the past few months it’s good to see them back open again and returning back to some normality.
