Car parking charges have returned to council operated car parks across Buckinghamshire.

Everyone parking in a council car park or in a parking bay on the road, will be required to pay the required fee.

All council car park charges and on-street parking restrictions - including parking on yellow lines - had been lifted across Buckinghamshire in March.

But the charges will now resume with increased footfall in the council operated car parks as lockdown restrictions have eased.

A number of car parks will feature new ticketless pay and display systems designed to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

A number of other health and safety measures in car parks has been put in place including marking out social distancing areas around ticket machines, and new signage.

Ticket machines, lift buttons and other surfaces in high footfall areas will all be cleaned more regularly as well.

Buckinghamshire Council has introduced the option for ticketless pay and display in more car parks across the county via RingGo; and payment of parking fees using this contactless option is recommended. To set up an account either go to your App store or the RingGo website, follow the simple instructions and you are ready to go!

David Martin, Buckinghamshire Council Cabinet Member for Logistics, said: “The reintroduction of parking charges is a necessary part of the effective traffic management of our town centres as traffic levels continue to build.

"While it is still necessary to follow government guidance on social distancing and wearing face coverings in certain situations, we have been encouraged by the significant increase in footfall in our town centres in recent weeks.”
