ALMOST 600 people across Berkshire have died in hospital having tested positive for coronavirus.

The latest figures from NHS England show the total number deaths of those under the care of three Berkshire NHS trusts has reached 571.

In May 21, there were 512 people who died having tested postive for Covid-19, up by 59 deaths.

These figures are as of 5pm on Wednesday, July 30.

It comes as nationally figures for those who have died following a positive test for covid-19 has surpassed 45,900.

Latest NHS England figures show 364 people who have tested positive for Covid-19 have died under the care of Frimley Health NHS Foundation trust - which runs Wexham Park Hospital, Frimley Park and Heatherwood Hospital.

A total of 187 people have died in hospital having tested positive for coronavirus, under the care of the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.

The trust is in charge of the Royal Berkshire Hospital as well as several other community bases such as West Berkshire Community Hospital in Newbury, and Townlands Hospital in Henley.

20 people under the care of Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust have died, according to NHS England.

This trust runs services across several sites including wards at Wokingham community Hospital, wards at West Berkshire Community Hospital, and Prospect Park Hospital.

According Public Health England, the latest number of coronavirus cases in Berkshire has hit 3,369.
