MORTIMER Fire Station is reassuring locals that they have been in the area lately as part of practise fire drills.

Posting several pictures on Twitter showing fire trucks, hoses and firefighters in various locations, the team confirmed that the testing was in preparation for potential emergency situations.

The post reads: "You may have seen us around Mortimer last night [July 27], practising drills on our station ground. "It's good to put our skills to the test in areas we may visit in emergency situations.

"We familiarised ourself with hydrant locations, tactical plans and the best route to the incident."

The team has recently been on the scenes of several fires in the town, but are reassuring residents this week that some activity is part of their training.
