A VISIT to the pub has been a treat for many following the relaxed lockdown rules but have you considered taking your pooch too?

After weeks of being at home, people are now enjoying the ‘normal things’ in life like heading down to the pub.

But if you’re on a walk and want to stop by for a quick drink with your four-legged friend, where is the best place to go?

The Chronicle has compiled a list of five dog-friendly pubs in Reading for you to visit.

The Fox & Hounds in Theale won the coveted title of ‘most dog-friendly pub’ in Britain back in November 2019.

It is known locally for its warm welcome and special touches for canine companions, such as a paw-sonalised dog food menu, comfy dog beds, and an array of water bowls for dogs of all shapes and sizes.

Customers visiting The Crown in Play Hatch have commented on the pub being ‘dog-friendly’.

One review on Google said: “Great place and dog friendly”.

Another added: “Major plus point The Crown is dog friendly. Slowly becoming a regular.”

The Flower Spring on Henley Road has been described on Google reviews as “very dog friendly”.

The pub explains dogs are allowed inside the pub too with dog bowls and biscuits available.

The garden is also “completely fenced off” so owners can take their dog off the lead. In summer months, a dog paddling pool is put outside.

The Jolly Anglers in Kennet Side has also been described as “welcoming to dogs” by reviewers on Google.

Hope and Bear on London Road has customers saying it serves a “lovely roast dinner” and is “dog friendly” with another adding dogs are allowed inside if they are well behaved.
