THE FUTURE of a former Binfield music store which was open for more than four decades is set to be decided after council chiefs received a plan to make use of the empty building.

New home at former music shop (20/00500/PAV)

Binfield’s much-loved Amen Corner Music closed down for good in January 2019 before hosting a clearance sale six months later.

The future of the store, which opened in 1977 on Beehive Road, has been up in the air since the shutters came down for the last time.

Now new planning details indicate the store is set to become a home after an applicant submitted a prior approval notice to the council to turn the site into a residential dwelling.

New flats at historic nursing home (planning reference: 20/00503/FUL)

The Ascot Priory buildings housing St David’s Nursing Home have been standing on Priory Road in Ascot since 1861.

Now managers want to make changes to the site to “secure the future of the property for the next 150 years.”

The home and the surrounding built sit in 40 acres of woodland in the green belt.

Proposals submitted by applicants indicate rendered buildings in the South Wing will be removed to make way for the ten new apartments.

Two dozen new bed spaces would also be added as part of the plans.

Given the history of the site, the buildings are protected from being modified without special permission from the council — something the Ascot Priory Church has also asked for.

Five trees could be knocked down in Ascot.

Few details exist about the plan, but we do know this concerns a property on Prince Consort Drive.

A new phone mast in Sandhurst (20/00514/RTD)

EE is hoping to put a new ‘telecommunications monopole’ up on Yorktown Road in College Town.

The phone giant has a certificate from the International Commission on Non-Ionising

Radiation that its new mast is compliant with the requirements of the radio frequency to public exposure guidelines it must follow.

New home at Warfield farm (20/00509/FUL)

A new home could go up at Malt Hill Farm in Warfield.

This would be made possible by the demolition of an existing barn at the site.
