TRIBUTES have been paid to a late council worker for her work representing staff at the authority.

Lorna Cameron, who was the Bracknell Forest representative for the UK’s largest trade union Unison, passed away recently.

Following a meeting of Bracknell Forest Council’s (BFC) education and employment joint sub-committee yesterday, chairman of the employment committee councillor Ian Leake paid his respects to Ms Cameron.

He said: “A long-standing member of that local joint committee was Lorna Cameron, who some members will know sadly died some weeks ago.

“I asked David Allais, [the current Bracknell Forest Unison representative], if he would pass on the committee’s and the employment’s committee’s thanks for the contribution that Lorna had made during her term, not only as a member of the committee, but also for the work that she did for the council and asked him to express our condolences to her family, her work colleagues and any relatives of which he was aware.”

Alongside her Unison responsibilities, Ms Cameron was also an employee of the council.

BFC chief executive Timothy Wheadon said: “Lorna worked in Adult Social Care and was known to many for several years as a Unison representative.

“Lorna had been ill for several months but that did not lessen the sense of loss we feel.

“Our sympathy remains with Lorna’s family, friends and work colleagues.”
