A Reading brewery will re-open this week and is developing plans to open later and on more days of the week.
Phantom Brewery, based at Unit 3 on Meadow Road, announced yesterday it would re-open its taproom, but only on Saturdays for now, with two bookable sessions: 4pm-7pm and 6pm-9pm.
But – looking to the future – co-owners Dom Gemski and Dane White have also applied to Reading Borough Council (RBC) for a licence to sell alcohol onsite on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and are seeking extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays.
The 12-barrel brewery, which is family and dog-friendly, launched in November 2019 and has an on-site taproom with 12 taps of different beer.
It opened from 3pm-10pm on Fridays and 1pm-10pm on Saturdays prior to the lockdown.
They will be open on Saturdays only from this week as they ease out of lockdown but have applied for a licence to open and sell alcohol at these times:
- Wednesday-Thursday: 5pm-10pm
- Friday: 3pm-midnight
- Saturday: 1pm-midnight
- Sunday: 1pm-8pm
The brewery is also currently raising money for a memorial for the victims of the Forbury Gardens attack which happened on June 20.
The memorial will be chosen by the families of the victims – Joe Ritchie-Bennett, James Furlong and David Wails – and arranged by Reading Borough Council.
Any excess funding will be used to support further initiatives in memory of the victims, in accordance with their families’ wishes.
So far, they have raised more than £3,500.
