NEWBURY Racecourse has announced further dates and opening times for their free to enter pop-up beer garden experience, Pub in the Paddock.

The racecourse welcomed about 500 visitors last weekend to enjoy the racing coverage from both Epsom and Sandown along with Premier League action, all of which was played out on the big screen overlooking the paddock.

Following its success, the Pub in the Paddock experience will be returning this weekend from July 10-12.

More than 300 customers booked socially distanced seating pods in advance of Saturday’s opening day and an outside bar, food concessions and free Wi-Fi were on hand for guests to enjoy.

Julian Thick, Chief Executive of Newbury Racecourse, said: “We have been absolutely delighted with the response to our ‘pop-up’ beer garden which launched this weekend.

“We were unsure how popular it would prove, but it’s been fantastic to welcome Annual Members, some of our residents, regular racing customers as well as several first-time visitors to the racecourse.”

He continued: “The classic British weather didn’t put people off and we hope the space will become a regular destination for anyone looking for a socially distanced and safe environment to enjoy a drink with family and friends.

“We appreciate that people are still nervous about venturing outside, but we hope that given the space we have at the racecourse, some of these fears have been alleviated.

“We are looking forward to opening this weekend and showing the racing action from Newmarket plus Premier League football.”
