FOLLOWING The government's latest lockdown rules announcement, pubs, bars and restaurants have been allowed to open this weekend, starting from July 4.

Although this has meant many pubs have agreed to open, many are deciding to stay closed until further notice, for many reasons.

This begs the question for many readers - what pubs are ACTUALLY open this weekend?

If you are looking for the perfect place to take that first sip in our local pubs, we have you covered - here are five pubs across Reading, Wokingham and Bracknell that are open and ready to serve the public (We have also included reviews and ratings by customers so you can judge which you'd prefer).

1. The Ship Inn, Wokingham (4/5 on TripAdvisor)

Reading Chronicle:

This Inn, based on Peach Street, Wokingham, left one customer happy, leaving a TripAdvisor comment saying: "At a time that is difficult for all of us including pubs and restaurants this is my first special review to support some of my favourite establishments.

"The Ship. Excellent welcoming staff, excellent beer, proper landlord. Great building, including interior. This is a community pub, not only in name.

"I have witnessed staff calling regulars to check they are OK and take shopping orders.

"Food is excellent, be prepared to wait as it’s a proper kitchen. Food very well cooked, portion sizes I assume are dictated by fullers HQ. Tasty, not always filling. Sandwiches and pizzas are the best value.

4. The Chequers, Woodley

Reading Chronicle:

The Chequers, on Crockhamwell Road, Woodley Town Centre, pleasantly surprised this customer, leaving this review on TripAdvisor: "Don't let the drab shopfront exterior put you off... I opened the door expecting dingy 1970s working man's club... What I got was a tidy, well lit, friendly pub with plenty of seating.

"I was only stopping for a soft drink, but they had my favourite Kraken rum on 2-4-1 so ended up having one... Rude not to. Especially as its not found that often.

"Seats are comfy, staff are lovely and locals don't appear to bite. All in all I'll be coming back should I need to water myself."

5. Market Inn, Bracknell

"I need a little more assistance than most as I use a wheelchair, and I have always found staff to be helpful."
