RESIDENTS have been urged to get in contact with the town council to suggest areas they think should be designated as local green space.

The announcement comes from Woodley Town Council following news that Wokingham Borough Council is looking for suggestions for the latest local plan update.

According to the council, suggestions for local green space need to be 'in reasonably close proximity to the community it serves', 'demonstrably special to a local community and holds a particular local significance', including it's 'beauty, historic significance, recreational value, tranquility, or richness of wildlide', and also has to be 'local in character and not an rctensive tract of land.'

Areas already suggested include Dinton Pastures, Ashenbury Park, Vauxhall Park, South Lake (Including the lily pond and play area), Malone Park, Woodford Park and the Memorial Recreation Ground, Sandford Park, Heard Road play area, Crescent Park in Southlake Crescent, Mortimer's Meadow, Redwood Play area, Masters Close play park, the greenland between Mohawk Way and Colemansmoor Road, and the land over the river from the Loddon Park estate.

A spokesman for Woodley Town Council said: "Wokingham Borough Council has invited Woodley Town Council to suggest areas to be considered for designation as a Local Green Space in the Local Plan Update. "Local Green Space designation is a way to provide special protection against development for green areas of particular importance to local communities.

"If any member of the public has further suggestions to put forward for consideration, please send them to us, saying why you think the area should be considered for designation as a Local Green Space.

"Suggestions must be received by Sunday 12 July 2020."

The Bulmershe site of Urban Landscape Value has already been submitted fordesignation as a local green space.
