BRACKNELL’S Go Ape is introducing a number of new ways to keep adventurers safe as it gets set to re-open in just over two weeks time.

The activity centre, which features rope courses, a zip wire and a segway route in Swinley Forest, will welcome back adventurers on Saturday, July 4 after it closed at the start of lockdown.

A Go Ape representative told the News session slots have been reduced at the activity centre to allow social distancing in both the trees and on the grounds.

This will also mean smaller group sizes.

They added: “We are lucky as we are outdoors so [it is] lower risk.

Bracknell News:

“Our courses naturally create social distancing due to spacing and we are creating one way systems if required and extra briefing areas.”

Here’s how else Go Ape will be protecting people:

Social distancing

Only one person is allowed on a ladder, crossing or zip wire at any one time.

Up to three people from the same household are allowed on a platform but not two people from different households.

Markers and signs will be placed on the ground so people can stick two metres apart from each other.

Cleaning

Extra hand-washing and sanitation stations will be available for staff and customers.

Personal protective equipment will be cleaned after every use.

Harnesses will be rotated and safety lines, whistles and metal attachments will be cleaned.

Equipment

Staff will wear face shields where necessary.

Instead of instructors fitting customers’ harnesses, customers will be asked to fit them themselves under supervision from instructors.

Bracknell News:

If harnesses are needed to be adjusted, staff will do so wearing face shields ensuring no face-to-face contact.

A final safety check will be done by the instructor.
