A GROUP of young volunteers spent two hours cleaning up after people leaving litter behind at South Hill Park.

Members of the Bracknell Forest Youth Council (BFYC) took to the parks with their litter pickers and bin bags after noticing more and more litter left lying around.

It comes as part of their environment campaign, to help make Bracknell a cleaner and friendlier town.

Iris-Scarlet McCulloch, Member of Youth Council, said: "When we first arrived, we began on the field outside the front of South Hill Park, and worked our way up to Hedgehog Park near Birch Hill Shops - splitting up helped us to collect as much litter as we could.

"Taking approximately two hours, but it was two hours well spent! In the end, the litter pick was extremely successful as there was quite a lot of litter when we began. Finally, we finished with half a dozen full bin bags as well as multiple glass bottles and cans - in which we recycled to the nearest recycling point."

The volunteers chose to do the litter park at South Hill Park after noticing more litter.

They are also hoping to continue litter picking on a weekly basis.

"This was just our first socially-distanced litter pick, as we plan to continue doing them on a weekly basis; welcoming anyone willing to help us! We're also hopeful that this will encourage other people to be responsible and get involved.", Iris-Scarlet added.
