DETECTIVES have released CCTV footage following an arson attack in Whitley.

At around 1.24am on Monday, June 8, a car parked in a driveway on Basingstoke Road, Reading was set on fire with an accelerant by an unknown offender.

Police said they are investigating the incident following a spate of arson attacks in South Reading, where a number of cars have been set alight.

A CCTV video of a man has been released today who may have vital information about the incident.

The fire was put out by Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

No one was injured during the incident.

Investigating officer PC Jonathan Bowness, based at Reading police station, said: “There has been a spate of arson incidents in the South Reading area, where a number of cars have been set on fire by unknown offenders.

“I am appealing to anyone who has information that could assist with this investigation to get in touch.

“I believe the man in this CCTV may have vital information that could help with this investigation.
