Crime across the UK fell by nearly 30 per cent during the early stages of lockdown.

Crimes like rape, burglary, vehicle crime, serious assault, robbery, and shoplifting all fell sharply when Boris Johnson imposed tight restrictions on the British public.

But how much did crime fall in Bracknell.

We've scoured April's police data across our local areas to see whether our communities followed the national trend or whether reported crimes stayed at a similar level.

Throughout April, more severe lockdown restrictions were in force - people could only go out for four reasons, so you'd think crime would dramatically fall.

Well in the middle of town that was certainly the case.

From March to April, crime dropped off by a staggering 83.3 per cent and it has more than halved since February, with 7 total crimes reported in April.

The most reported crime fell under the category of violence and sexual offences with two. Following this was shoplifting at 2, burglary with 1, other theft with 1 and other crime with 1.

But elsewhere in the borough, the drop off was not nearly as significant, with one policing area actually seeing an increase in reported crimes.

Across the whole of Bracknell, crime saw a 26.3% reduction.

Bracknell North: 174 crimes reported in March compared to 152 in April

As the above map will indicate, a large proportion of crimes committed in this area came in and around Priestwood.

Unlike the North, the crimes seem to be a lot more spread out.

Bracknell Northern Parishes: 93 crimes reported in March compared to 53 in April

As the map indicates, Warfield and Popeswood has seen the most reported crimes in this particular area.
