A MAN was smacked over the head with a metal pole after he confronted a suspected shoplifter outside B&M.

Thames Valley Police has released CCTV after it said the victim, a 27-year-old man, was attacked on Saturday, June 6.

It happened about 12.45pm when the force said the victim witnessed a woman shoplift from the bargain store off Rose Kiln Lane.

The victim followed the woman out of the shop, at Brunel Retail Park, where he was then hit on the head with a metal pole by an unknown man.

Officers said the victim was injured but did not need hospital treatment.

Thames Valley Police has today released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to as he may have vital information about the attack.

Investigating officer PC Daisy Taylor based at Reading police station said: “I am appealing to anyone who has information that could assist with this investigation to get in touch.
