A PERSONAL trainer from Reading has helped the nation to keep fit during the coronavirus outbreak by taking part in an initiative launched by Lucozade Sport.

Aneeka Anwar, 23, took part in Lucozade Sport’s ‘Keep Us Moving’ initiative which aims to support the nation’s fitness coaches, instructors and personal trainers by incentivising them to help the nation to stay active during the coronavirus outbreak.

Fitness experts from across the country are being given the opportunity to host online classes through Lucozade Sport’s Instagram TV channel and YouTube channel.

The classes are free, and all trainers are paid for each piece of content used by the channel in return for their expertise.

Aneeka, who qualified as a personal trainer last year, hosted a Tabata class as part of the initiative in May.

Tabata is a high intensity workout which involves completing various exercises for 20 seconds before having a ten second rest and continuing.

Aneeka said she “really enjoyed” the experience and felt like she was teaching in front of a normal class.

She added: “It was a good opportunity to provide a follow along workout people can do in the comfort of their own home and to really promote health and fitness.”

Aneeka works as an optometrist at an independent opticians in Reading and started working at a gym on her days off at the end of last year.

She said taking part in the initiative wasn’t about the money but for the experience and to help others.

Aneeka has started to post workout videos on her own Instagram account a couple of times a week alongside recipe ideas for people to enjoy.

The initiative is being backed by two-time World Heavyweight Champion and Lucozade Sport athlete Anthony Joshua and is open to all qualified coaches and trainers across a diverse range of sports, from community group leaders to professional coaches.

The content series features daily accessible home workout routines from Monday to Friday generated by fitness experts from across the country, with schedules for the following week announced every Sunday.
